Product Details - Patagonia Men's Powder Bowl Pants


Some runs are purely stellar, some purely survival. We make Powder Bowls for the full ride. They have a rugged 2-layer polyester shell that's bonded to a GORE-TEX® membrane using GORE-TEX® Performance Shell technology for the highest level of waterproof/breathable performance available. A DWR (durable water repellent) finish prevents saturation and increases abrasion-resistance. Inside, a brushed tricot lining manages moisture and glides smoothly over underlayers. External thigh vents let you regulate your climate on the uptracks and articulated knees and a gusseted crotch provide unlimited mobility for big air shows. Other features include coated, watertight Slim Zips for reduced bulk, gaiters with tenacious gripper elastic and burly scuff guards to protect the hem from ski edges and postholing abuse.

  • Loops on rear yoke securely attach pant to powder skirt on any Patagonia Ski/Snowboard Jacket to keep snow out
  • Slim Zip installation with watertight coated zippers for reduced zipper bulk and weight
  • Gusseted crotch and articulated knees improve mobility and reduce bulk; external thigh vents quickly release heat
  • Gaiters keep the snow out, while tough scuff guards protect inside of leg and bottom hem
  • Pockets: Two handwarmers, one back hip, one right thigh - all with secure zip closures

      Great pants for riding. Tough, warm (with just an average thermal), stops wind. Sitting on snow is no problem - no water will leak through. Well worth the money. Been riding for 25+ years and these are the best pants I've tried. My only suggestion would be for Patagonia to add an ankle gaiter. That is the difference between a 4 star raing and a 5 star rating.

      Starting with the negatives, there are two changes to this years powder bowl that I am not a fan of: 1) Patagonia got rid of the adjustable gator/cuff at the boot. The previous version's clip was easy to use, reliable and made for an easier time getting the gator/cuff over ski boots; and 2)the previous version was closer to the bomber/abrasion proof Rubicon, which provided a lot of comfort knowing my pants weren't going to tear bush wacking at the being of dawn patrol, and scrambling up rocks at the end.

      Positives, the bad brings the good. The pants don't feel as burly as older versions, but that also means they are lighter and less restrictive. The Gore-Tex also breathes better without having to include softshell sections in the pants, that were necessarily heavier. Colors are great, fit is perfect (I like loose even to move, without being confused for a park rat), and despite my reservations they have held up to a lot of abuse thus far. Vents and pockets are in the right place and the right quantity, and I will never worry about getting wet popping a squat on top of a snowy ridge to have some lunch.

      These are killer and I couldn't be happier that I can stick with Patagonia, get high end gear, and not have to settle for black or grey in colors. Major bonus.

          I typcially have a difficult time finding pants to fit given I'm 6'3" and 165 lbs though the medium Powder Bowl pants fit great. The waist is perfect and the length is just enough to cover my boots but not get caught up in the binding. The overall fit is excellent, baggy enough to allow adequate movement though not too baggy that they flap in the wind. Overall, excellent pant!

                  Great ski pants. Disappointed that outer shell is lighter weight material than last year's version. Plenty of pockets and venting. Purchased a large. Waist could have been half inch bigger (I'm 6' 1", 195 lbs) to accomodate additional undergarments. Great value at sale price.
