Simple, lightweight core warmth. This vest's minimalist design practically floats; its 800-fill-power down traps heat in alpine conditions, and it's so compact it stuffs into a stretch-mesh internal pocket (with a carabiner clip-in loop). The innovative 100% recycled polyester shell with a Deluge® DWR (durable water repellent) finish provides wind and water protection as well as a high tear-strength; quilting stabilizes the down. With zippered handwarmer pockets and a drawcord hem.

      I bought this product as part of a layering system philosophy. I don't like wearing heavy jackets and find a layer of lightweight bases, mids, and shell layer provide me with the most flexible control controlling warmth without the bulk.

      I would consider this vest the most versatile down mid layer as the full hooded down sweater is probably overkill for active sports. Its keeps my core plenty warm and allow heat to escape a little bit around the arms should I start to overheat, which is still possible in a sleeveless vest.
