Product Details - Patagonia Men's Better Sweater Hoody


This soft, comfortable hoody provides the aesthetic of wool with the easy care of polyester fleece.

For a bracing morning glacier traverse followed by apéritifs at the Buffet de la Gare, a rugged and functional fleece with a handsome sweater-knit exterior is a natural choice. The Better Sweater™ Hoody combines the durability and easy care of 9.5-oz 100% polyester with a sophisticated sweater-knit weave and heathered yarns. Mountain-town comforts: a stand-up collar built into the hood for extra protection from the elements; collar, cuffs and hem lined with micro-polyester for moisture-wicking performance; a chest zip pocket and cozy zippered handwarmer pockets for stowing digital camera, phone and audio devices.

          This is my second Better Sweater (this one, a hoody), so that should say something of how I feel about the product. It's my everyday wear on cool (but not cold) days, soft and cozy but durable. I love it and I give major props to O2GS! The only thing that I can think of that *might* be perceived as a down side is that the sweater 'pills', (little 'balls' of the fabric), but this is a known and common trait (endearing?) of many Patagonia products.

          I wear my Better Sweater Hoody almost every day fall through spring. It fits well and the hood is awesome, nice and snug, but big enough to cover my whole head. If its really cold I use heavier baselayers, but when it warms up a bit a t-shirt underneath is fine. Its not the warmest jacket out there, but its not meant to be. Its versatile from an outer layer to a midlayer. It dries quickly and can handle some rain or snow. My only real complaint is that it pills up a lot so I occasionally have to use a pill shaver to restore it to nice condition.

          If you are not looking for windproof fleece, this is almost perfect. This would keep you kinda warm if longsleeve shirts are worn inside becasue the wind will go right thorught the jacket. Again, if someone does not have tactical/hiking gear in mind, this will be fine for casual wear. I recommend it!
